Knowledge Commoditization in Business Education
#1Business education's core knowledge base — accounting, finance, marketing, strategy, operations, organizational behavior — has been codified in textbooks, case studies, and practitioner literature for decades, making it among the richest training corpora for large language models. Current frontier models (GPT-4o, Claude 3.7, Gemini Ultra) can explain DCF valuation, Porter's Five Forces, or inventory management tradeoffs at a quality level that students in controlled studies rate as equal to or better than textbook explanations. Platforms like Khan Academy's Khanmigo, Coursera's AI Coach, and edX's courseware AI are already delivering business content at scale that is freely or cheaply accessible — directly competing with paid university instruction.
